Nonlinear resistors are used in the arrester for equalization of voltages at all the discharge modules. The output of each odd discharge module, except for the last one, is coupled to one terminal via one of the mentioned resistors, and the output of each even discharge module is coupled to the other terminal via another of the mentioned resistors, and the values of the resistors satisfy relations Rc>Rc+2 for odd K; Rc<Rc+2 for even K, where - the resistor ordinal number.
