FIELD: mobile communication systems. SUBSTANCE: upon detecting power turn-off request mobile station saves information of adjacent cells in PN memory together with power levels of signal received from adjacent cells. After power supply is turned on mobile station is checked for disposition at the moment in same group of cells where it was during power turn-off. When mobile station is in same group of cells, it sequentially reads out PN information from memory according to power level of signal received so as to find adjacent cells. After that mobile station searches for cell recorded during power turn-off prior to searching for adjacent cells. EFFECT: enhanced speed of cell search for mobile station. 4 cl, 4 dwg
