METHOD OF BAND MATERIAL STABILIZATION IN PLANT FOR COATING APPLICATION Russian patent published in 2002 - IPC

FIELD: application of coatings by dipping of article into molten coating material. SUBSTANCE: method includes passing of metal band through vessel with molten coating material. Vessel has through channel below bath melt surface. Electromagnetic travelling field set up by a pair or several pairs of coils induces currents in coating material. Induced currents together with electromagnetic field cause electromagnetic force for keeping the coating material in vessel. Set up in zone of through channel by combined use of additional coils is regulated electromagnetic field for stabilization of position of band material and its compaction. Intensity and/or frequency of additional electromagnetic field is varied depending on position of band material in through channel registered by sensitive members. A pair or several pairs of coils are controlled by means of thyristors. Band material is brought into more or less symmetrical position without contact from outside. EFFECT: high-quality coating due to stabilization of band position in its passage through channel. 2 cl, 5 dwg
