FIELD: method of accurate location of leakage in pipe lines laid in hollow envelopes and casings. SUBSTANCE: proposed method includes check of presence of gas in air blown through space between pipe line under test and its envelope by means of detector fitted at end of section under test; when leakage is found by detector rate of blowing is changed, thus providing for sudden change in concentration of product in air being blown; then time from moment of change of rate of blowing till moment of location of sudden change in concentration of product in air being blown is noted; distance between detector and leaky area is determined as product of this time and rate of air blowing. EFFECT: possibility of performing continuous monitoring of pipe line tightness; enhanced sensitivity and increased rapidity of leak location. 1 dwg
