FIELD: growth of monocrystals from solutions by application of pressure, hydrothermal method in particular; manufacture of large seed plates. SUBSTANCE: according to first version, seed includes base seed of ZY or XY cut, additional elements mechanically secured perpendicularly to its edges; length L of these elements is related with length l of base seed as follows L = l•tg60°-h, where h is size of base seed along axis X. According to second version, seed includes base seed of ZY or XY cut and additional elements - side walls mechanically secured to its edges at right angle; they are directed to +X region and additional elements - side walls are directed to -X region. Relationship of sizes is as follows: length of additional elements - side walls in direction of +X region ranges from 1/4 to 1/2 L and in direction -X it ranges from 1/2 to 3/4 L and length l of base seed is related with total length L of additional elements - side walls in directions +X and -X as L = l•tg60°-h, where h is size of base seed along axis X. According to third version, seed is monolithic from base seed, additional elements in +X region and additional element which is extension of one of additional elements to -X region.
