FIELD: crystal growing. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to growing crystals from solution, in particular quartz crystals via temperature gradient method under hydrothermal conditions, and aims to be employed for growing big crystals. Title seed contains base inoculating crystals arranged end-to-end in one plane so that their crystallographic axes coincide and quartz holders superimposed on interface zones from two sides of base inoculants made in the form of rectangular clamp embracing base inoculants along their thickness. Base inoculants have identical XY or ZX, or XY cuts, whereas contact surfaces thereof are parallel to X or Y, or X axis. Rectangular-clamp shape of quartz holders ensures reliable fixation of base inoculants in predetermined orientation relative to each other. EFFECT: improved quality of grown monocrystals due to reduced number of dislocations on interfaces of base inoculants. 7 cl, 1 dwg
