FIELD: test and measurement technology; detection of small metal bodies and particles in materials and articles at low conductance; food-processing and pharmaceutical industries. SUBSTANCE: metal detector includes self-excited oscillator with eddy current converter in oscillatory circuit and code-controlled capacitance box. Connected to self-excited oscillator are frequency departure meter at adjustable gain factor and amplitude comparator. Levels of generated voltage are changed in proportion and device readily responds to presence of metal objects only due to adjustable gain at change of disturbing factors (for example, degree of conductance of medium).
