FIELD: optical articles used in ophthalmology and processes of their manufacture. SUBSTANCE: optical lens or its semi-workstock includes composition of at least three different layers applied separately. Each layer gas refractive index differing from those of other layers. Lens has transition zone located between base and outer layer and including transition layer differing from others and applied separately which effective refractive index is intermediate between refractive indices of base and outer layer and equal to average geometric value of refractive indices of layer of base and outer layer. Intermediate zone can include aggregate of layers, each intermediate layer has own different refractive index. Lens so manufactured has no astigmatism, has wide reading zone, is easily installed and is cosmetically perfect. EFFECT: simple, fast and low- expense manufacture of compound optical lenses with variable refractive index. 28 cl, 6 dwg
