LENS DESIGN AND METHOD FOR VISION CHANGE MINIMIZATION BASED ON EXPERIENCE OF PATIENTS WITH PROGRESSIVE MYOPIA Russian patent published in 2017 - IPC A61F9/00 G02C7/04

Abstract RU 2621543 C2

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: ophthalmic lens comprises a central zone and at least one peripheral zone that surrounds the central zone and has an optical force different from the optical strength of the central zone. This lens has an optical force profile selected from the group consisting of an optical force profile with spherical aberration, a multifocal profile, an arbitrary shape optical force profile, and a segmented free-form optical force profile. The optical force profile is based on the initial paraxial optical force of a patient with progressive myopia and the given rate of myopia development over a certain period of time such that the difference between neuronal sharpness values at the beginning of the above-mentioned period and at the end of the above-mentioned time period is from about -0.1 to about -0.5, which leads to a controlled change in neural sharpness, thereby minimizing the change in visual acuity from the beginning of the above-mentioned time period to the end of the above-mentioned time period.

EFFECT: ophthalmic lenses have optical force profiles that minimize the change in visual acuity in progressive myopia based on minimizing the change in the neuronal sharpness image quality over a given period of time.
