FIELD: electrochemical engineering. SUBSTANCE: electrochemical dissolution of silver and adjusting pH of water are performed in aqueous solution at current density 0.0012-0.004 A/sq.cm and 25 C on three-electrode diaphragm electrolyzer wherein the third electrode functions as extra anode. Method can be used in drinking water disinfecting process and for preparing disinfecting solutions. EFFECT: enhanced process efficiency. 1 dwg
