FIELD: treatment of liquid products. SUBSTANCE: method involves exposing liquid to electromagnetic field pulses, with time of each pulse being at least 10-7 s, electric filed intensity amplitude exceeding 107 V/m; exposing to at least one spark discharge radiation treatment. Apparatus has high-voltage pulse generator with commutator, field development system comprising working chamber, treatment parameter control and regulation system, system for supplying and discharge of liquid under treatment, and spark discharge device joined to commutator of high voltage pulse generator. At least one through vessel positioned in zone of action of spark discharge radiation. Part of vessel facing spark discharge device is made from material transmitting spark discharge radiation. Method and apparatus are used for treating liquid and fluid products, which serve as nutrient medium for microorganisms (biological liquids), including milk, juices, sewage water, as well as medicinal and cosmetic preparations comprising microorganisms. EFFECT: increased efficiency in inactivating microorganisms through joint action of high intensity electric field and spark discharge radiation without deteriorating organoleptical properties and biological value of liquid, increased storage time of treated liquid and reduced power consumption. 3 cl, 3 dwg
