FIELD: methods and devices for metallic iron production. SUBSTANCE: method includes heating of mixture of powder containing iron oxide and powder of carbon-containing reducing agent, with mixture located on hearth. As a result, reduction and melting take place, and reduced iron may be produced with extremely low amount of inclined slaggy components and with high degree of Fe purity, even with use of iron oxide source with low iron quality.
