FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: metallic iron is produced out of mixture of raw materials containing carbon containing reducer and material containing iron oxide. The procedure consists in determining target temperature of primary melted slag formation corresponding to previously specified target concentration of carbon in metallic iron. Also there are performed a stage of preparing mixture of raw materials forming composition of primary melted slag corresponding to target temperature and a stage of heating mixture of raw materials for reduction, for melting mixture of raw materials and for production of primary melted slag. Notably, primary melted slag containing component of waste rock, not reduced iron oxide and ash component of carbon containing reducer is primarily formed in mixture of raw materials at its heating.
EFFECT: efficient production of metallic iron when melting can be carried out at low temperature; increased output at reduced consumption of heat energy.
