FIELD: nuclear power engineering; decontaminating inner surfaces of nuclear power plant circuits. SUBSTANCE: method includes treatment of power-generating equipment with 45-100 mg/l solution of nitrous acid at temperature of 80- 100 C for 5-17 h. Nitrous acid is produced directly in circuit by passing nitrous acid salt solution through ion-exchange resin or introducing nitric acid or its hydrolyzing salt in nitrous acid salt solution.
