FIELD: methods of making of corrosion-resistant oxide coating on pearlitic steel; applicable in protection of power-generating equipment from corrosion. SUBSTANCE: method includes chemical treatment of surface of steels with solution of nitrous acid with concentration of 35-100 mg/l at temperature of 80-100 C for 1-6 h. Nitrous acid is produced directly in system by passing diluted solution of salt of nitrous acid through H+ cation exchanger or by introduction into diluted solution of salt of nitrous acid of strong acid from series including nitric and hydrochloric acids. EFFECT: increased corrosion resistance of pearlitic steels by a factor of 3-7 in saltless water and damp atmosphere after treatment by offered method. 3 cl, 4 tbl
