FIELD: corrosion protection of power equipment. SUBSTANCE: method involves treating steel with solution comprising hydrazine in an amount of 0.01-0.03 g/l and further comprising nitric acid added to provide for pH value of 3.0-4.5. Treatment process is performed for 1-5 hours at temperature of 80-100 C. Method allows corrosion rate of pearlitic steels in desalinized water to be reduced by 2-3 times and concentration of chemical agents in solution under treatment to be reduced by 80-100 times. Method is preferably used for passivating of nuclear power unit equipment, for example, condensate-supplying tract of nuclear power station, secondary coolant circuit of nuclear power station with water cooled power reactor. EFFECT: increased efficiency in protecting steel surfaces and simplified method. 5 tbl, 5 ex
