FIELD: equipment for fluid separation, particularly, centrifugal separators. SUBSTANCE: method provides for forcing out of controlling fluid through supply tube to separator rotor by means of device for fluid supply. Device contains cylinder having in its end face wall, the first discharge channel for passage of controlling fluid to supply tube. Cylinder accommodates axially movable partition forming storage chamber of preset of volume of controlling fluid in cylinder. Partition has opening-and-closing member axially arranged and movable together with partition. Opening-and-closing member has the second discharge channel. Controlling fluid is forced out in two stages. The first discharge channel in cylinder end face wall is located along cylinder axis and provides for passage of controlling fluid in amount exceeding the minimal preset amount of fluid to supply tube at the first stage in partition motion in axial direction to the first distance up to closing of said channel. Partition opening-and-closing member has the second discharge channel for passage of controlling fluid in lesser amount to said tube at the second stage of its supply through the second discharge channel in continuous motion of partition to the second distance so that the first discharge channel remains partially closed during the second stage. Centrifugal separator is provided with a device for supply of controlling fluid to its rotor of design described above. Invention provides for supply of definite volume of controlling fluid irrespective of external conditions, variation of fluid pressure in system of water pipelines.
