FIELD: equipment for centrifugal separation of multiple-phase medium. SUBSTANCE: method involves supplying cleaning liquid into rotor internal part and increasing amount of cleaning liquid in discharge chamber; moving cleaning liquid surface in discharge chamber in the direction of central axis to its second radial level; filling rotor discharge chamber with cleaning liquid to its third radial level; providing flowing of cleaning liquid from discharge chamber into inlet chamber by means of bypass member, with cleaning liquid flow rate exceeding predetermined flow rate of clean medium from discharge channel during medium separation procedure. Apparatus has device for supplying cleaning liquid into rotor, device for moving liquid surface toward rotor central axis in rotor discharge chamber and at least one bypass member with at least one bypass channel having open ends at side adjacent to inlet chamber and at side adjacent to discharge chamber at second radial level of liquid. Bypass channel of bypass member has enlarged section area allowing discharge chamber to be filled to third radial level between rotor central axis and second radial level. Apparatus provides for internal cleaning of centrifugal separator rotor without necessity of stopping rotor. EFFECT: simplified construction and increased efficiency. 12 cl, 2 dwg
