FIELD: production of abrasive powders from metal ceramic. SUBSTANCE: method involves producing powder from metal ceramic comprising carbide-titanium base and carbides, nitrides and/or borides of Ivb, Vb and Vib subgroups of periodic system of elements; using as basic substances titanium oxides and elements of subgroups; melting said substances in the presence of hydrogen used as reducer; grinding resultant hard alloy product and classifying with following obtaining of abrasive powder from dense metal ceramic substantially free of pores. It is desirable that compounds of respective elements be used as basic substance, melting process be conducted in the air, in nitrogen or inert gas (for example, argon) atmosphere. Nitrogen-containing compound is preferably added to basic mixture as nitrogen source. During reaction said compound is decomposed to produce nitrogen. Carbamide is recommended for usage as nitrogen-containing compound. Also, it is recommended that upon accomplishment of melting and grinding process, resultant product be subjected to high-temperature annealing at temperatures of from 1,100 C to 2,200 C in the atmosphere of inert gas, nitrogen, vacuum or in reducing atmosphere. EFFECT: increased economy and improved quality of abrasive powder. 9 cl, 6 ex
