FIELD: laser engineering; high-power self-contained laser systems with copper- vapor amplifier stage. SUBSTANCE: radiation pulses whose wavelength coincides with that of laser transition of active medium atoms in amplifier stage and whose length is shorter than lifetime of inverse population in said medium are produced in laser generating system. Then radiation pulses produced in said system are conveyed to input of multiple- transition amplifier stage. Moment of first arrival of each radiation pulse leading edge at active medium of amplifier stage is synchronized with moment of origination of inverse population in said medium. Number of transitions and time of each pulse leading edge passage through active medium of amplifier stage, delay time of pulse leading edge by return units at input and output of amplifier stage, total for all transitions, and also inverse population lifetime of amplifier-stage active medium atoms are interrelated by definite dependence. EFFECT: enhanced pulse amplitude and improved characteristics of laser-amplifier system output radiation. 3 cl, 1 dwg
