FIELD: medicine. SUBSTANCE: method involves making two corneal paracenteses in 9 and 15 o'clock positions. Corneoscrleral tunnel is formed. Anterior lens capsule is opened along straight line running from 10 to 14 o'clock position. Needles are introduced through the paracenteses into the nucleus. The nucleus is fragmented in moving the needles to meet each other. The nucleus fragments are withdrawn via the corneoscleral tunnel. EFFECT: reduced risk of traumatic complications; facilitated intraocular lens implantation; reduced induced postoperative astigmatism.
