FIELD: organic synthesis. SUBSTANCE: 1- chloroadamantan-4-on useful as intermediate in synthesis of 1,4- disubstituted adamantane derivatives is prepared by chlorination of 1- adamantan-2-on by carbon tetrachloride catalyzed by manganese such as (stearate) and Mn(OAc)2 for 1- 6 h at 180-200 C and molar ratio [Mn]/[adamantan-2- one]/[CCl4] = 1: (100-1000) : (1000-5000). Conversion of adamantan-2-one ~100% and yield of 1-chloroadamantan-4-on ~ 4.92%. EFFECT: expanded synthetic possibilities in adamantine series. 1 tbl, 2 ex
