SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of producing 1,3-dichloroadamantane , through catalytic chlorination of adamantane, characterised by that chlorination is carried out using carbon tetrachloride under the action of iron-containing catalysts Fe(acac)3 or Fe(C5H5)2 in the presence of methanol at 160-170°C for 3-6 hours with molar ratio [adamantane]: [CCl4]: [CH3OH]: [catalyst] = 100:200:100:3-5.
EFFECT: method uses cheap catalysts and is realised in milder conditions.
