FIELD: waste treatment facilities. SUBSTANCE: method involves biological or mechanical-biological treatment of wastes. Apparatus has closed vessel equipped with induced ventilation system providing for biological or mechanical-biological treatment of wastes and device for sorting wastes into fraction of substantially heavy material and fraction of substantially light material. Said device is made in the form of dry cleaning table, behind which selective grinding devices are positioned.
