METHOD FOR EXAMINING DONOR BLOOD WITH PCR-TESTING Russian patent published in 2003 - IPC

FIELD: medicine. SUBSTANCE: method involves applying personal hermetically sealed containers connected to each other for taking samples. Container contents are collected into pools to be analyzed for virus infection availability by means of a high sensitivity test like PCR. These pools are tested on the basis of an algorithm according to which each donor samples are mapped into an N-dimensional matrix or array member. Matrix member is associated with X_rcs, matrix identifier, where r, c and s denote dimension index. Aliquots are taken from each sample and a subpool is built where each subpool has sample aliquots having one dimension index fixed. All subpools are subjected to single PCR test cycle. Dimension indices of each positive subpool are mathematically evaluated according to minor contraction rule enabling one to identify single array member and in this way to identify single virus- positive blood or plasma sample collected from certain donor.
