FIELD: broadband code-division multiple access communication systems. SUBSTANCE: special-purpose control channel of broadband CDMA communication system has 15 time intervals per frame each incorporating transport format mask indicator bit, transmission power control bit, and pilot signal bit; special-purpose control channel and special-purpose burst-data transmission channel are multiplexed before transmission. As an alternative base station may transmit message of gated transmission command including gating rate and start-of-gate- transmission time to base station for gated transmission of special- purpose control channel signal in case data are absent in special-purpose transmission channel within preset time period. Then base station transmits special-purpose control channel signal in gating mode at gated transmission initiation moment specified in gated transmission command message. EFFECT: provision for preventing data transmission over special-purpose control channel within preset time upon assigning special-purpose channel in mobile communication system. 11 cl, 10 dwg
