FIELD: medicine. SUBSTANCE: method involves examining functional state of the stomach and duodenogastric reflux, determining pyrosis, gaseous eructation and food regurgitation availability, substernal burning immediately or during 30 min after having taken, arrival and/or increase of substernal pains in lying position, arrival and/or increase of substernal pains at night time, shoe-string symptom when inclining body forward. Relation binding the resulting signs reflecting reflux esophagitis and reflux esophagitis symptom is evaluated by means of multidimensional linear regression equation. 5-6 points being the result, the diagnosis is considered to be dubious, 9-10 points show the diagnosis is likely to take place. 11 points being evaluated, the diagnosis is considered to be sure. EFFECT: enhanced accuracy in diagnosing and determining general relationships binding severity degree and symptoms. 4 tbl
