FIELD: ferrous metallurgy; steel making in open-hearth furnaces with use of bubbling by inert or neutral gas. SUBSTANCE: proposed method includes loading the metal charge, heating and melting this charge, bringing molten metal to required parameters and blowing it with inert or neutral gas by means of multi-nozzle blowing units found in hearth; energy is delivered to furnace bath by means of burning jet whose direction is periodically changed; by the end of melting period, furnace bath is filled with metallurgical melt consisting of metal phase at the bottom and slag at the top. Level of metal phase is raised at this section to direct contact with burning jet. In changing the direction of delivery of burning jet to furnace, blowing of both sections of metallurgical melt is retained. Proposed method increases use of heat of burning jet, excludes drop of pressure in volume of metal phase and reduces periods of melting and refining the metal.
