METHOD FOR DIAGNOSING THE CASES OF HYPOSPERMATOGENESIS AND SPERMATOGENIC TESTICULAR CELLS ATROPHY Russian patent published in 2003 - IPC

FIELD: medicine. SUBSTANCE: method involves performing open testis biopsy under local anesthesia. Bioptate of 0.3x0.3 cm in size is fixed in Buen fluid, dehydrating in alcohols of progressive concentration growth and enclosed in paraffin-celloidin by pouring. Histological slices of 5-7 mcm thickness are stained with hemotoxilin and eosin. Microscopic examination is carried out under general magnification of optical system being equal to 420.0. Sustentocyte number is counted on 30 strictly transverse slices of spermatic cords of the histological preparation. Total number of spermatogenic tissue cells is counted in the same spermatic cords. Spermatogenesis index is calculated as sustentocytes/spermatogenic tissue cells ratio. The results are evaluated according to the following principles: Spermatogenesis index reduction to 10-90%, spermatogenesis index reduction to more than 90%. The first case is interpreted as hypospermatogenesis and the second one as spermatogenic testicular cells atrophy. EFFECT: high accuracy of diagnosis. 2 tbl
