FIELD: organic synthesis catalysts. SUBSTANCE: invention, in particular, relates to oxidative amination of propane or propylene into acrylonitrile. Catalyst having general formula VaSbbMmNnOx, is prepared by heating aqueous mixture containing V2O5 and Sb2O3 at temperature between higher than about 100 C and 250 C, preferably 110-175 C and, most preferably, 120-160 C at autogenous pressure and stirring to form catalyst precursor. The latter is calcined to give final catalyst. Catalyst may be used for oxidative amination of other C2-C5-hydrocarbons into alpha- beta-unsaturated nitriles.
