FIELD: cleaning surface of elongated products in the form of bodies of revolution such as tubes, round rolled blanks, wire. SUBSTANCE: apparatus for cleaning wire or round rolled blanks includes working chamber and cleaning mechanism made with possibility of passing wire or round rolled blank through it in horizontal direction. Cleaning mechanism is in the form of cylinder mounted with possibility of rotation and having at least two segments. Members of abrasive material are arranged inside said segments with possibility of pressing abrasive material to cleaned surface of wire or round rolled blank. Members of abrasive material are arranged on elastic substrate. Working chamber is filled with liquid medium into which cleaning mechanism is immersed with possibility of placing in said medium zone of engagement of members of abrasive material with cleaned surface of wire or round rolled blank. There are ducts for passing liquid between members of abrasive material and cylinder segments. Cleaning mechanism has at least one blade secured to cylinder along its axis.
