FIELD: sorbents. SUBSTANCE: binder-free synthetic A-type zeolite is prepared by mixing kaolin with charcoal, adding 30-70% of A-type zeolite, treating mixture with sodium hydroxide solution, adding polyvinyl alcohol solution to form homogeneous plastic paste, which is granulated, ripened, subjected to finishing molding, twice dried, and thermally activated. Thus obtained amorphous granules are cooled, subjected to hydrothermal crystallization in alkali solution, then to heat-steam treatment of granules, and the latter are washed with softened water. Resulting zeolite adsorbent granules are finally dried. Adsorbent is efficient as ion-exchange material for removing metal cations and radionuclides from water currents. EFFECT: optimized preparation procedure. 1 tbl, 9 ex
