FIELD: sorbents. SUBSTANCE: binder-free zeolite adsorbent is prepared as follows: kaolin is mixed with silica and charcoal, 30-70% of powder faujasite is added, the total is treated with sodium hydroxide solution and resulting mixture is completed by polyvinyl alcohol solution to form homogeneous plastic paste, which is granulated, aged, subjected to finishing molding, twice dried, and thermally activated. Thus obtained amorphous granules are cooled, subjected to hydrothermal crystallization in alkali solution, then to heat- steam treatment of granules, and the latter are washed with softened water. Resulting zeolite adsorbent granules are finally dried. Adsorbent can be used in chemical and petrochemical industries, in petroleum processing, in heat and nuclear engineering, as ion-exchange material for removing metal cations and radionuclides from water currents. EFFECT: simplified preparation procedure. 1 tbl, 9 ex
