FIELD: rolled stock production. SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of drawing strip on surface of drive drum through abrasive powder compacted in front of descaling zone; subjecting drive drum simultaneously to vertical and radial vibrations at frequency 50 - 2500 Hz and at amplitude 5 - 1000 micrometers. Apparatus for descaling surface of wide strip includes at least one drum and conveyer, vibrators, for example electromagnetic, electrodynamic or magnetostrictive ones mounted on bearing assemblies of drum and on its shaft. Drum is hollow one. Inside drum vibrators are arranged uniformly along circle; stationary part of vibrator is secured to shaft, its resilient part is secured to inner cylindrical surface of drum having vertical walls made of springy material. EFFECT: improved quality of descaling strip due to elimination of lengthwise notches, grooves, uniform roughness of surface along strip and across it. 2 cl, 2 dwg
