FIELD: microwave radio electronics; waveguide switches and pulse modulators. SUBSTANCE: waveguide switch designed for operation in superhigh- and ultrahigh-frequency bands has below-cutoff fin-line section with 10-20 slot-shorting circuits each incorporating 3-5 semiconductor diodes connected cumulatively in series; electrical length of fin-line together with its semiconductor diode circuits amounts to half the mean working wavelength of device. Quarter- wavelength sections (matching transformers) are connected on both ends of mentioned fin-line section. In special cases all three waveguide sections are ridged. Two design alternates distinguished by design of fin- line are described. EFFECT: maximal attenuation ratio in closed and open positions of switch; enhance power handled by device. 10 cl, 3 dwg
