FIELD: thermal engineering; off-line air heating of living quarters and industrial premises; agriculture. SUBSTANCE: air heater of 25 kW power capacity depending for its operation on flameless catalytic oxidation of natural gas may be found useful for drying various materials, fertilizing plant with carbon dioxide, and providing shielding atmosphere for vegetable stores. It has catalytic gas-synthesis generator that functions as burner and is made in the form of radial reactor incorporating gas-distribution pipe with catalytic layer of gas-penetrable flat or corrugated and reinforced wound bands sintered with gas- distribution pipe; turn-to-turn clearances of wound band form gas-air ducts. Used as catalyst is reinforced porous material incorporating following active components: rhodium, nickel, platinum, palladium, iron, cobalt, rhenium, ruthenium, or mixtures thereof. Carbon oxide content in exit gases is maximum 1 ppm, methane content is not over 30 ppm, and nitrogen oxides are absent. In operation air heater burns natural gas in two stages.
