FIELD: tobacco industry. SUBSTANCE: rotating cutter head has casing, cutting knives, and knives advancing apparatus providing advancement of knives for sharpening. Said apparatus has drive made in the form of transfer mechanisms, each providing advancement of two knives of rotary head by means of shaft fixed on head casing. Gears of knives advancement apparatus are fixed on shaft ends. Ratchet mechanism fixed on shaft mid portion has catch with lever connected through pusher to disk semi- coupling mounted by means of guides on casing of rotating cutter head. Semi-coupling is positioned for periodic connection to similar semi-coupling mounted on immovable axle of rotating head and driven by pushers symmetrically arranged thereon and connected to actuating mechanism mounted on head pin. Both disk semi- couplings are positioned for displacement along axis of rotating cutter head and their contacting surfaces are manufactured from anti-friction material. Rotating cutter head is used to prepare tobacco for manufacture of tobacco articles.
