FIELD: tobacco industry. SUBSTANCE: tobacco cutting machine has tobacco charging and compressing devices, tip, rotary cutting head incorporating blade extending mechanism and sharpening device mounted on movable platform. Rocking lever disposed below cutting head has one end carrying sharpening device positioned in contact with curved cutting edges of cutting head blades and lever drive connected with fixed toothed sector. Other end of lever is attached to shaft rigidly fixed on machine frame. Blade extending mechanism is kinematically connected with cutting head drive through transmission system including two central gears. One gear is rigidly fixed on cutting head end and connected with other central gear through pair of intermediate gears fixed on shaft, which is immovable with respect to machine casing. Second central gear is connected through hollow shaft with third like gear which is connected with set of shafts of extending mechanism positioned in parallel with cutting head axis through radial intermediate gears. EFFECT: improved quality of tobacco filament shearing, reduced impact load on blade cutting edges and increased efficiency of cutting head. 4 dwg
