FIELD: tobacco industry, in particular, tobacco smoking article producing equipment. SUBSTANCE: top former has bed, movable and immovable pressing rollers, tip, pressing device and feeding conveyor. Uniform gap between cutting edges of rotary head cutters and upper edge plank of tip is provided by mounting movable pressing rollers on connecting rod, which is made in the from of unequal-armed lever pivotally coupled with rocker arm, whose roller pin is fixed on bed. Variable-length link is mounted on pivot hinges between free end of connecting rod longer arm and free end of rocker arm. Tie-rod is secured with its one end at obtuse angle to short arm of connecting rod through pivot hinge and with its other end to pin positioned on bed and geometrically coinciding with axis of rotation of rotary cutting head.
