TOBACCO TOP FORMING MECHANISM FOR TOBACCO CUTTING MACHINE Russian patent published in 2001 - IPC

FIELD: tobacco industry. SUBSTANCE: tobacco top forming mechanism has pulling member made in the form of flexible strip with supporting-driving rollers positioned at output end of pressing channel, upper pressing conveyor with flexible belt and drive rollers. Pressing surface of pressing rollers is formed as concave paraboloids of rotation with maximum flexure of pressing surface within the range of 0.4-0.8 of tobacco top height at site adjacent to pressing channel wall. Flexure is increased in the course of advancement of tobacco mass to be pressed. Mechanism is further provided with tip having curved upper plank. Upper conveyor drive is kinematically connected to lower conveyor drive through row of idle gears. One of idle gears is adapted for driving of both conveyors and is made in the form of cam half-coupling. Drive gear of upper conveyor is positioned on its rocking axis. Such construction allows tobacco top with uniform transverse density to be produced, and impact loads applied to cutter head during top cutting to be reduced.
