FIELD: ferrous metallurgy, namely cooling shaped rolled sections in line of bar hot rolling mills. SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of cooling section by three stages at normalizing dimensions of local cooling portions; at first stage cooling front end of section along portion whose length is equal to 20 - 40 maximum sizes of cross section of rolled section at rate equal to 0.3 - 0.4 of critical cooling rate; at second stage cooling mean portion of section at cooling rate equal to 0.8 - 0.9 of critical cooling rate; at third stage cooling rear end of section along portion whose length is equal to 20 - 40 values of maximum size of cross section of cooled section at rate equal to 0.2 - 0.3 of critical cooling rate.
