FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: proposed method comprises billet heating, roughing and finishing at hot-rolling thick-sheet mill. Identical mechanical properties in wide range of thicknesses is ensured by rolling structural steel billet with carbon content not exceeding 0.16% at hot-rolling mill at temperature of rolling end of 790-850°C into 8-50 mm-thick strip. After rolling, strip is subjected to differential water cooling. Note here that total reduction of strip at finishing stands and strip top surface cooling rate at collecting roll table depending upon final strip thickness are defined by mathematical relations.
EFFECT: higher quality of wide hot-rolled sheets, mainly, from low-alloy steels of strength grade 265-325.
