FIELD: machine engineering, namely testing machine parts for strength, investigating body parts for absence of breaking through after shock action, possibly realizing strength and certification testing of housing of blowers, compressors, turbines of gas turbine engines and other turbomachines. SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of placing rotor inside housing; before testing weakening preset section of one blade; providing rotation of rotor with predetermined revolution number at which said blade is broken; according to traces of blade collision with housing evaluating impierceability of housing; before starting testing lowering medium pressure in housing; at testing process from time moment of rotor achieving predetermined revolution number, increasing pressure in housing. Apparatus for performing the method includes successively connected rotor with blades and drive unit, one blade with weakened section, system for controlling revolution number, revolution number pickup, device for signaling at blade breaking; unit for introducing data whose first inlet is connected with outlet of revolution number pickup and whose first outlet is connected with system for controlling revolution number. Apparatus includes in addition medium pressure pickup whose outlet is connected with second inlet of data introducing device; electric current collector through which device for signaling at blade breaking is connected with third inlet of data introducing device. Apparatus also includes videocamera whose inlet is connected with second inlet of data introducing device. Blade breaking signaling unit is arranged in said weakened section of blade. EFFECT: guaranteed breaking of blade in predetermined section at rotation of rotor with preset revolution number. 4 cl, 1 dwg
