FIELD: remote monitoring of natural environment, timely detection and long-term control over anomalies on surface of the Earth. SUBSTANCE: natural radiation of underlying surface is registered in two mutually orthogonal polarization planes. Resulting image matrix is formed from pixel-by-pixel relations of amplitudes of signal in two reception channels mutually orthogonal in polarization. Contours are brought to light in resulting image. For analysis of image it is divided into number of fragments where surface structure is more uniform and value of fractional dimensionality is determined per each of them. Value of fractional dimensionality, coordinates and area of contour are used to decide whether it belongs to earthquake focus. EFFECT: provision for timely detection and control over earthquake focus. 6 dwg
