FIELD: mechanical engineering; hatch closures provided with cover balancing units; shipbuilding. SUBSTANCE: proposed hatch closure includes balancing unit with axle mounted for rotation in supports of body. Mounted inside axle is torsion bar made from material possessing mechanical shape intelligence for pseudoelasticity. Torsion bar is preliminarily twisted through angle exceeding that required for complete opening of cover. Number of plates of torsion bar and their sizes are selected such that return stress is generated for restoration of their form. EFFECT: improved service characteristics due to enhanced corrosion resistance; enhanced reliability. 4 cl, 6 dwg
