FIELD: radio engineering. SUBSTANCE: directional coupler that may be used for communication facilities, waveguides, microwave measurement technology, and antenna engineering has two rectangular waveguides with common section of wide wall and coupling area therein incorporating slits disposed in two rows either side of center line of one of waveguides. Proposed directional coupler is characterized in that rectangular waveguides are positioned at angle (90±α)° deg. to each other, where 0°<α<45; common section of wide wall is parallelogram with coupling slits of different length from 0,1λ to 0,49λ positioned along large diagonal of parallelogram. Every two slits disposed symmetrically relative to point of intersection of parallelogram diagonals are parallel and equal in length and width; distance between centers of different opposing rows varies between 0,2λW and 0,3λW, where λW - is wavelength in other waveguide. EFFECT: reduced crosstalk attenuation and enhanced stability in frequency band. 1 cl, 11 dwg
