SUBSTANCE: L-methionine is prepared by culturing bacterium Escherichia coli that shows ability to produce at least 0.5 g/l of L-methionine in the process of culturing in minimal medium and this strain is resistant to effect of methionine analogue. The strain Escherichia coli 218 (VKPM B-8125) exhibits such properties. Accumulated amino acid is isolated from cultural fluid.
