FIELD: plasma technology, electric rocket motors based on plasma accelerators with closed electron drift, technological accelerators used in processes of vacuum-plasma technology. SUBSTANCE: given plasma accelerator with closed electron drift has discharge chamber with outer and inner ring-shaped walls forming acceleration channel with ionization and acceleration zones, magnetic system with source of magneto-motive force, magnetic circuit, external and internal magnetic poles forming working interpole gap in zone of outlet edges of discharge chamber, gas distributor, anode and cathode- compensator. Walls of discharge chamber in ionization zone are so built that distance between ring-shaped walls of discharge chamber in ionization zone is less than distance between these walls in acceleration zone. Walls of discharge chamber in ionization zone are made of dielectric material and walls of anode border on discharge chamber and form anode space. One annular groove as minimum can be made in at least one wall of discharge chamber in ionization zone. Anode can have at least two anode spaces located one above another over height of acceleration channel and ring- shaped ionization zones corresponding to them leading to single acceleration zone of discharge chamber.
