FIELD: chemical technology, rubber industry. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to production of halogenated butylrubbers. Method involves at the first stage mixing rubber solution with water and alkali aqueous solution followed by separation of phases. At the second phase rubber-containing hydrocarbon layer formed in separation of phases is mixed with alkali aqueous solution followed by aqueous degassing of emulsion formed. Rubber-containing hydrocarbon layer stratified after the first stage is subjected for additional intermediate aqueous treatment before the second stage by its mixing with water and repeated separation for phases to obtain aqueous and hydrocarbon layers. Aqueous layer separated from the stage of additional aqueous treatment is fed to the first mixing stage. Ratio of chloro- (bromo)butylrubber-containing hydrocarbon layer and water in additional intermediate aqueous treatment is maintained to provide pH value of aqueous layer after separation of phases in the ranges from 3.5 to 5. Reducing agent taken among group of metal sulfites, bisulfites or thiosulfates is added to water feeding for additional intermediate treatment.
