FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: butyl rubber reacts stage-to-stage with halogen in an inert solvent with water added. Stock butyl rubber dissolved in the inert solvent containing water 0.1-10.0 wt % is used. The first stage of halogenation is followed by phase separation with recovery of a lower layer that represents halogen hydride dissolved in water. The second stage of halogenation involves introduction of water and halogen solution with phase separation herewith recovering water from halogenated butyl rubber solution. Chlorine is dosed 0.1-0.3 wt % in the first-stage rubber, while dosage of bromine in rubber is within 0.2-0.5 wt %.
EFFECT: lower salt content in halogenated butyl rubber and minimisation of rubber destruction in halogenation.
